Low-Cost Low Earth Orbit Communication System

The technologies used for satellite communications in the areospace industry, whether for constellations or individual satellites, are rarely standardized. Although, as a starting point, some standardization bodies have begun to uniform the protocol architecture, the implementation of radio channels (such as Satellite to Satellite, Satellite to Earth, Earth to Satellite) is not subject to such regulations. This lack of standardization results in significant challenges in terms of interoperability and increased development and maintenance costs. This research proposal aims to explore the possibility of adapting existing technologies, developed for other communication contexts, to perform satellite communication tasks, thereby reducing development and adaptation costs. Specifically, protocols, routing techniques, and modulation methods used in other sectors, such as terrestrial telecommunications, will be considered. This approach aims to improve the interoperability of different constellations of satellites from one or more space actor and allow for a reduction in the costs associated with designing and implementing new satellite communication technologies.
