This research investigates the integration of Integrated Communication and Sensing (ICAS), Cooperative Perception (CP), and Cooperative Driving for smart mobility. It explores how communication signals, including Channel State Information (CSI), can simultaneously support data transmission and environmental sensing. By enabling vehicles and infrastructure to share sensory information, CP creates a common understanding of the environment, improving awareness of hazards. The project combines foundational research on CSI representation and analysis with the development of Cooperative Driving applications to enhance road safety, traffic efficiency, and protection for vulnerable road users through coordinated communication, perception, and decision-making.

Short Bio

Elena Tonini graduated with honours from classical high school in 2019 before transitioning to STEM by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Brescia in September 2022. She completed her Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, graduating with honours in September 2024, with a thesis entitled Statistical Analysis to Support CSI-Based Sensing Methods. She is currently a PhD student in the Advanced Networking Systems Research Group at the University of Brescia, where her research focuses on the stochastic modelling of Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI) to support device-free activity recognition and wireless sensing algorithms.
