Enhancing Trust and Accountability in Digital Content Using EBSI, Self-Sovereign Identity, and Social Network Analysis to build a trustworthy social metaverse

Social trust, economic stability, and democratic resilience are all under risk due to the quick dissemination of false information on social media. Current solutions, such as human fact-checking and centralized moderating, have poor scalability, transparency, and user agency. In order to improve social networks with verifiable trust mechanisms, this presentswe plan to study, design and develop the “Trustworthy Social Metaverse” (TSM), an Augmented Social Reality layer on top of traditional social networks. To provide transparent authorship, content provenance, reputation modeling, and bot identification, in the TSM project we will study how to combines Self-Sovereign Identity, EBSI-compliant blockchain infrastructures, Social Network Analysis, and AI-based moderation. In the scheme we plan to study, design and develop Users with eIDAS 2.0-compliant digital identities will register content, which is will then be enhanced with trust indications and verified assertions. Our research project, namely TSM, aims at offerings a complete framework to combat online disinformation and promote European goals for digital sovereignty and democratic resilience by fusing distributed validation with decentralized identification.
