|FUNCTIONAL AND GAS SENSING PROPERTIES OF METAL OXIDE NANOWIRES GROWN WITH VLS TECHNIQUE
Major activity of my research project is the growth of metal oxide nanowires on alumina substrates using vapour liquid solid technique. In the first year I have focused the attention on nickel oxide nanowires. For the nanowires growth, different metal catalyst such as Au, Pt, Pd etc. and different working conditions were used. RF magnetron sputtering was used for the deposition of catalyst particles on the substrate. The morphological and structural characterization has been done by SEM, XRD and Raman spectroscopy respectively. Afterwards the conductromertric sensing devices were prepared and their response towards different gases such as Hydrogen, ethanol, CO and NO2 etc was measured to find out the best response of NiO nanowire sensor for these gases.
