|NEW TECHNIQUES FOR NONLINEARITY COMPENSATION FOR LONG-HAUL OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
Pre-existing communication system both in Optical and RF domain has been designed based on linear system assumption. Unlike RF system optical communication has strong nonlinear effect as information transmission power exceed certain treshold. Such nonlinear effect has put limitation on achivable transmission rate and spectral efficiency that contradict what has been suggested in linear Shannon information capacity limit. As a result, new method of information coding, modulating, transmission, receiveing and decoding must be explored. This PhD program will be dedicated on experimentaly determining, beyond numerical simulation, using Nonlinear Fourier Transform, which is knon as Inverse Scattering Transform in Physcics and mathimatical science world, as new method of transmission, detection and multiplexing method in long-haul optical communication.
Wasyhun Asefa was bornin Nazareth, Ethiopia on 13/02/1988. He recived B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Hawassa University in Electrical Engineering in July, 2009 and M.Sc. from University of Brescia in Telecommunication engineering specialized in telecom technology and multimedia in march,2015. He then joined Bahir Dar Institute of technology , Bahir Dar, Ethiopia as assistant lecturer till 2011. Currently he is a PhD student in joint PhD program between University of Brescia, Brescia, Italy and Telecom ParisTech, Paris, France. His current research interest includes Nonlinear Fourier Transform (NFT) and Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing (NFDM) technique for long haul optical communication system, Digital signal processing for Nonlinear compensation and related subejects.
